**TOL’S** : A huge thank you to everyone who braved the wet, windy, and misty night at the Train of Lights event! We're halfway through and have already sold 1793 sausages, translating to $4500 in sales. Special thanks to Kris Ash for volunteering to help with a staff shortage.
**Cardinia Foundation** : Kristine Ash for sharing the inspiring work of the Cardinia Foundation, which has already donated $850,000 to local groups and aims to reach $20 million!
**Stop the Press** : Huge kudos to Shalini for her fantastic efforts in securing not one, not two, but three prominent articles in the local newspaper and EDRA newsletter! Her dedication to sharing our story and promoting our cause is truly impressive. Well done, Shalini - your talent and enthusiasm are invaluable assets to our team!
**Talkin it up** : Thank you to Gloria for keeping us informed about the upcoming Youth Mental Health Wellbeing Forum on July 25! The committee's tireless efforts have truly paid off, securing impressive support and sponsorship.
**Committee Changes** :As we navigate some changes within the club, we'll be revising our committee allocations to. If you're reassigned to a new committee and feel it's not a good fit, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly. Your happiness and fulfillment are my top priority.
**WhatsApp group to come** : The proposal to establish a WhatsApp group for our club was met with enthusiasm. We'll be sharing more details and instructions on how to join the group, dubbed "Rotary Roundup", in the coming days. Stay tuned for updates and let's keep the conversation going!

President's Opening: Welcome and Announcements
Kelly welcomed everyone and our guest Guy.
We are halfway through the Train of Lights which has been going for 12 days. Hats off to the TOL'ers.
1,793 sausages have been sold and $4,500 made before expenses.
Our guest speaker was to be Melissa Gleeson but she has apologised because of illness, but thank you to PP PHF Kris Ash for agreeing to talk about the Cardinia Foundation in her place.
The Youth Mental Health Forum is only 2½ weeks away and Gloria and her team are doing an amazing job.
The Umeshs have resigned from the Club, meaning we will have to revise some of the committees - this will happen at Sunday’s Board meeting.
The next Club Assembly will be on 23 July.
Proposed putting together a Club’s WhatsApp group and asked for a show of hands if in favour, which it was. WhatsApp is another form of messaging and the response can be instant and much faster than email. It will be called the Rotary Roundup WhatsApp.

The July EVA Newsletter which Toni-Anne has emailed to everyone has a double page spread on our Club. We have several pages of coverage in the Star News local paper - see below for snapshots of these.
The Cardinia Foundation is a philanthropic organisation which works throughout the Shire of Cardinia. It donated $5,000 for operating costs for last year’s Kids’ Fun Run With Puffing Billy. It has 9 directors and Kris is one. It is an NFP and has been operating for 20 years to grow their funding income

Cardinia Shire is a diverse and growing community
The Foundation recognises how diverse Cardinia is and its needs
There is a need for social cohesion, a desire to maintain community spirit and it has a proud history
Casey joined in 2013 and left in 2022 when it had a lot of difficulties
The Foundation is not associated with the Council but it works closely with it
It has DGR status
$850,000 has been distributed to local groups
2022 was a new beginning partly because of Covid.
They had to change their way of fundraising, re-establish their goals and work to help the Shire to achieve what they want
A pathway to success: They have to have an income stream and do this through regular giving
Sponsorship Opportunities:
Local organisations pledge an amount of money yearly over a set time
Bequests
There are a lot of blended families in the area who haven’t worked out their wills and who will look after the children.
The Annual Grants Program is based on a set of criteria
They provide support following natural disasters
There is a Vibrant Proactive Board whose members have to live and work in Cardinia.
There are two Cardinia Councillors on the Board one of whom is Brett Owen
The Board looks at Homelessness, Domestic Violence, Education, Health and Well-Being and Social Cohesion.
Seed funding: They look for sustainability and how it will support itself going forward and alignment with the Council’s liveability plan.
Financial goals:
The aim is to make $20 million over 20 years
There is an investment fund with shares and they draw down the interest on the funds.
They make decisions on how the money is invested
This year they gave out $36,000
They helped Rotary’s Kitchen Garden at Emerald Secondary College because it benefited a wide range of people and was a nutritional program.
The Youth Mental Health Forum received a grant because it has a very long reach, and a website with a lot of information and is a resource for people to return to.
Response: Shalini thanked Kris for her excellent presentation, and it is always great to have Kris as a stand-in Guest speaker.
Committee Reports
PP MPHF Gloria Hargreaves - Mental Health Youth Forum
The Committee is made up of 5 Emerald Rotarians including Hita, plus Lisa a mental health therapist, John from the Monbulk and Wayne from the Belgrave Rotary Clubs.
Gus is a vital member of the AV team
Shalini is doing the publicity and the newspaper ad is great
Amber & Kris are posting on Facebook
The committee is working very well together
There are 74 registrations currently but more are wanted
Many local secondary schools have been contacted and Felicity at Emerald Secondary College will really push the forum when the students return to school on Monday, 15 July
There are only a few zoom registrations
The Showbags contain a sheet for questions, an evaluation sheet for feedback, an RUOK sticker, a business card, and QR codes and posters thanking sponsors.
There are a large number of organisations for people to go to, e.g. Headspace, Beyond Blue and the Shires’ Youth programs.
Sponsors:
D9810 gave $4000, the Cardinia Foundation $1,000, the Community Bank at Monbulk $1,000 and Emerald Psychology and VIBE Health and Fitness each gave $500.
There is a Running Sheet starting from 6 pm.
The Display Area includes Headspace, Cardinia Youth Services, the Shire of Yarra Ranges Youth Team, Emerald Village Pharmacy which will share a table with VIBE, KAIKO Fidgets and Grace and Louie’s Bookshop. Grace is very excited about her participation.
Hita will share a table for her psychology practice.
PHF John Henderson will man the Rotary Table.
Networking
Everybody is overjoyed that we’re having this forum especially the Councils.
Local Rotary Clubs such as Berwick and Pakenham have been contacted to help with promotion.
ECHO and the Churches have advertised through their networks.
Flyers have gone into retail stores, the local newspaper and EVA newsletter, school newsletters, on Facebook and other social media, to Youth Groups and on our website.
Everyone is asked to bring a plate for supper.

The Mayor plus DG and DGE are attending the Youth Forum.
Our participant at RYLA is Dave Clowes. Marcus, Lyn and Emma will be attending the RYLA Dinner at Phillip Island tomorrow night (see image from this event below).

Some of our Club members sponsored another child at the Tenderfoot School in Kenya, making 3 sponsored children altogether. We are sponsoring an 8-year-old in Class 3. Decisions are made on who should be eligible for sponsorship.
Russell Marnock recently visited the school and was impressed.
