Hi everyone

I did think that District Governor Daryl Moran would be winding down by now but that isn’t the case.  Daryl has contacted the clubs who obtained the Hybrid in a box grant (as partially set we only needed $400 to complete our system). During the lockdowns last year, Daryl produced a series of 'Five Minutes with the DG' videos which were shown to you each month, but although the need for those has passed, many of the messages are still relevant. They are posted on the D9810 Youtube channel along with many other clubs and associated Rotary videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCllp4QnV2Lzp3sAKiCIqK-Q/videos   Daryl is now to attend each club by zoom for his final 'Five Minutes with the DG!'  He has a short message to deliver to us along with a PowerPoint slide which he assures me will only take FIVE Minutes of our meeting time. However, he is happy to have a short Q&A.  As we have still have a full speakers program Daryl will attend the next Assembly evening on Tuesday 24th May at 7.10pm
.
It was a shame that Tina McInerney was in Queensland on Tuesday and missed Malcolm Chiverton’s Youth talk.  When broken down through all the activities that this Area of Service covers, it is bigger than you think. This week there were less members zooming in and more at the Pub so that is a good sign – not saying anything more – just in case!  And an update on Kerry Champness -  he undergoes his next round of Chemo on Friday 13th May – our best wishes.

We have the Market this coming Saturday and we have a few stalls already booked in and promises of more to attend on the day.  Signage is out around the town and we should have a LED trailer sign in place from Friday.  If you have anything that you would like to “offload “ to our stalls, can you please ensure that you bring the items along early Saturday morning.

We are only a week out from the Car Rally scheduled for Sunday 22nd May.  The stat time has come forward to 1pm ex Gemco Theatre, due to fitting in with the end “venue”.  This has meant that a couple of members can’t make it, which is obviously a shame. If you haven’t already RSVP’d to Carol Cain, can you please do so by 14th May please: cazgor@bigpond.com No doubt Ian and Jenny Wakefield will be hoping to retain their winning trophy from last year!  Thankfully our event doesn’t clash with any of the District Assembly training sessions.  If you haven’t already registered, can you please remember to do so.

Correction to event name from last week’s Sparkle - RYDA (not RYLA) volunteers Monday 23rd May – cancelled due to lack of interest from schools.

The next Deb Ball is only a few weeks away on 11th June – it has soon come around! Lyn and Lorna are working away behind the scenes and the pupils are getting excited – their 3rd dance lesson is 12th May and then suit fittings next week. I dropped off the group picture of the February event to Emerald SC on Wednesday so hope to see it displayed (along with the previous ones) in the newly renovated foyer next term.

Have a great weekend and see you next Tuesday

Yours in Rotary,

Shalini Penny, President

Meeting Next Week - Let Lorna know you are attending please!

Deb Ball Image 2020/21

No one (other than Shalini) will know the work involved in ensuring this event happened for the young people in our community.  What a lovely image of all the debs and their partners on the night.  The picture will be presented to the school.
