Reward Cups Delivered
Peter Behm delivered the last of our Rewards Program items – mugs (our hoodies were delivered on 30th May). 2/3 of the District became involved in the program which resulted in 415 hoodies, 192 polos, cups, mugs and caps being distributed to members – a total of 1700 items, which blew their budget
Guest Speaker Renee Cooke from Cire First Impressions
Renee Cooke has worked 4.5 years for Cire First Impressions (First Impressions Clothing Exchange (FICE) – a non for profit organisation with an amazing initiative that empowers women and helps them achieve their employment goals. Think confidence-building, skill development, and brighter futures all around. First Impression commenced prior to COVID, working with unemployed woman referred by the Salvation Army to obtain affordable clothing , utilized a corner of a store in The Terrace Mooroolbark, they obtained donations from Bunnings, Top shop and a Vic Gov grant. Through COVID they held ZOOM make-up classes. Their program has enabled family violence, single, homeless and disadvantaged women be able to obtain clothing, dress well and acquire skills that has allowed them to attend interviews, formal occasions, secure employment and feel good about themselves in everyday life. To date over 200 people in the range 17-64 have been supported through this program. They have FB and Instagram pages and on 29th July are holding a Fashion Parade in conjunction with Lilydale Rotary – which is fully booked.

On To Conference– PP PHF Marcus Adams
On to Conference (22nd – 24th March 2024) at Light House Theatre, Warrnambool
- Venue 500 capacity, cost $275. Early-Bird $225 for 1st 100 registrations (see link in District Governor’s newsletter this week – registrations open 9am Monday July 24th)
- Friday events include 4pm Cocktails party and golf tournament
- Theme: Mental Health – Hita Mistry a guest speaker,
- Gala Ball – 350 limit so 1st in best dressed (Masquerade theme)
- Club Dinner Friday at hotel – Lady Bay Resort, 20 rooms booked, cost $170pn = $340. 10% deposit of $34 required – see email from Marcus – Bank account will be: Bendigo Bank BSB:633 000 Account:159114719. Ref: Conference & your name
- Sunday there will be a 3km End Polio walk $25
- Transport – Car, train and possibly an organised bus
- Focus of the year is to support struggling members within the community
- The committee has a budget of $11k
- Looking at some specific projects which are yet to go to the Board
- We will continue to support the Hampers at Christmas
- The committee has been approached by Mothers of the Hills (MOTHs) to assist with their hub refurbishment in Belgrave
- Looking at the continuation of the voucher system at Emerald Pharmacy to help those with hardship
Environment and Sustainability – Allan Douglas
Continuing the CO2 emissions project Vicki started last year, this has been offset by with the purchase and planting of 42 trees for all of our members, including Chris Adams and Louise Borg. The Sustainability & Environment team will look at a similar project at Emerald Lake Park this year. NB. This weekend the tip at Lysterfield is free.
