Dear friends,

It was great to have a social night on Tuesday at Griff’s place in Cockatoo. Kelly and Anna took us back to our childhood with pinball machines, arcade games and mini golf. The highlight was watching the brave souls in the Escape Rooms… Griff’s have renamed the rooms the ‘no escape rooms’. Lots of fun was had by all. Loads of pizza, some alcohol, soft drink and Anna’s amazing carrot cake completed a really good night.

In the last 8 weeks of our Rotary year we are certainly living our motto of Unite for Good. Last night the Deb Ball team began practices with 27 couples and dance instructors Andrew and Gayle taking to the dance floor to learn their set. Such a well managed practice is credit to the tireless work of Lyn and her team. This morning Sue and I, along with Principal Emma presented lanyards to the 27 members of Emerald Primary School EarlyAct team and this afternoon Gloria and Lyn are presenting lanyards to 17 members of the Gembrook EarlyAct team. Whilst all this is happening RYDA is being run at Emerald Secondary College with 80 students learning about road safety, another wonderful Rotary project. Thanks to Gloria, Lyn, Chris, Ali, Roy and Vicki: Our club provides not only assistance on the day but also pays for students to attend this training.

Tonight many of our club are attending the Rotary Safe Communities Against Family Violence Movie Event at the Cameo Theatre, this is a vital initiative and well worth our support. And for a chance to let down our hair and celebrate all of our amazing work, Saturday night many of us are off to Rotary’s Got Talent with the amazing Jonathon Usher and THE SPANGLES!!

Tuesday night is a very important night. President Pete has organised a meal packing night where we aim to pack 15,000 plus food packs as part of the ForaMeal project. If you want something done… ask some busy people. What a team!

Don’t forget to tell everyone you know about our wonderful All In The Mind Mental Health Forum being held on Sunday 24th May. It’s a free event. With one in 5 people in Australia experiencing a mental health disorder, this forum is very important.

Looking forwards to another week of Uniting For Good.
