Toast to the elderly - peter Hadwen
We toasted Vic Neal who was born in Birmingham on 15/4/1927 making him almost 92!! He had one younger brother and also a sister.
Vic had a happy childhood but his family was always broke as he grew up in the depressions years. He left school in 1941 aged 14. and joined a bakery where he delivered bread via a horse and cart.
Shortly after the ware ended he met Doris who became his wife whom he adored and afer about 3 yrs they decided to emigrate to Australia as 10 pound poms. They had a daughter and a son who gave them 3 grandchildren.
Vic has always loved animals and birds and now feeds the birds at The Glades he also enjoys socialising with other residents and loves carpet bowls. His days gadding off to the UK are long gone but he does enjoy visiting family in QLD and Phillip Island.
Rotary Ride for medical research
PP PHF John Shaw reported on his exploits on the ride. He was providing driver back up but managed to get in the saddle and peddle 256.02 kms. Well done John, your first ride in 2 yrs I believe. All funds go to Australian Rotary Research which is focusing on mental health at the moment. If you havent already done so please boost John's tally by going to

Club Assembly Notes
Funfest - PP PHF Russ marnock
- 3 time periods on the Roster, please let Russ Marnock know if you can assist we need all hands to the pump as we have the marketing stall a sausage sizzle and the Donut van.
- Tom will pick up the van and would like someone to assist please let Russ know if you can help out.
- Early morning marshalls no longer needed but if you can stay on helping pack down would be appreciated.

Cocktails On the Catwalk - 25 May 2019
- Roster for help circulating and on line
- Booking link cut up and on tables take some to keep when talking to friends
- Planning underway - fashion show, cocktails, canapes, raffle and Gayles balloon extravaganza
- Good night out some funds raised – key to fundraising will be bums on seats - please circulate the flyers to be emailed to all members tomorrow.
Winter Solstice Challenge
- Will circulate to club members – spread the challenge by social media
- Will reach out to Gyms, schools, clubs, councils etc
Vocational Committee - sangeeta bajaj
Sangeeta reported on the wonderful Pride of Workmanship evening last week and particularly thanked the following:
- Emma for the PA and stage
- John for MCing and assisting pick up the PA and stage
- Aneesh for his coordinatiion of seating and numerous excel sheets
- Her committee Chris Adams, Lyn Beckwith
- Paradise Hotel for assisting with the event
- Richard Gaunt for his financial coordination
- Kris Ash for photography on the night
Cr Brett Owen, Cr Letisha Wilmot and Jason Wood MP as well as our DG have responded and mentioned what a wonderful night it was.
The whole club gave a vote of thanks to Sangeeta.
International Committee - peter brock
Peter Brock wears 2 hats and spoke about the need for volunteers to help with the All American next year, along the lines of the Kids Fun Run With Thomas Committee.
International will be supporting Tenderfoot School, and will fund 2 girls aged 7 and 4 years of age. The school has 90 pupils in Kenya and was a project of one of our past club members, PP PHF PDG Ray Adams. Peter will ask Greg Adams to come and speak to the club.
youth committee - suzi wilson
Suzi is having fun and games with MUNA, another RC has pulled out and she now has the opportunity for a team from the secondary school to go without us having to cover the cost - response needed by COB Weds 27 to Suzi - not optimistic.
$500 Board approval will be sought for the school for HPV project.
Community chair pp phf tina mcinerney
Tina reminded the club about the Satellite Club interest meeting on 11 April. We need members to spread the word. Email to friends and share flyer on social media. This will help our club too as we will work together with the Satellite Club if we can get it off the ground.
