Thank you to the club and all members for helping out and supporting Peter when father passed away, son married on the Saturday – was a fabulous day, that day dad had a fall and passed away on the Tuesday. It was a challenging time – flowers and wishes were so appreciated – thank you from Peter and Tanya.
Updates
- District Assembly this weekend and next weekend – via Zoom.A whole range of topics to drop into and learn.50 minutes each topic.Please register – encouraged to undertake one at least, even just the opening session.
- Peter is keen to do more and learn more.Know Your Rotarian Dinners are starting soon.If you are down for that and get to know each other better!From July Peter would like to do something similar – keen for us to get to know each other better.
- Changeover – was Sat June 21st was to be held at the Discovery Centre.They have rescheduled Murder Mystery to that night and kitchen not available.Trying to find another venue or date.Peter is having to rework it all.
2025-6 Year
- Keen on succession planning to get new faces on the Board, those coming onto the Board are really engaged
- Focus on Service and Projects – there will be structured nights for each of these focuses
- Keen on fellowship and social – scheduled social nights each month.
- It is going to be a good fun year – I am strong on Rotary but will not push this 5th week of month will be focused on Rotary (4 times a year – fireside chat night – how it works, and we will get people in to explain some of Rotary ‘stuff’.
- We were put into groups of 4 and asked to describe the group - these are the results!

Toast to the Elderly – PP PHF John Ritchie – Heather Collings
I was born in Hatfield, England, in 1940. I attended a small primary school in Hatfield before moving on to secondary school at Saint Audrey’s. I left school at 15 and worked for 2–3 years as a setup technician at de Havilland, assembling aircrafts. After that, I trained as a dental nurse in Hatfield and worked in that role for 7–8 years.
In 1958, I met Edwin, who lived on the same street as I did, and we got married. We had four sons: Martin, Philip, Simon, and Graham.
Around 30 years ago, I moved to Australia in 1969, where my youngest son, Graham, was born. We initially settled in Perth, but stayed for only about six months before relocating to Victoria. My husband, Edwin, worked as a fitter and turner. We first lived in Hampton, then bought a house in Noble Park, and eventually, in the 1970s, we moved to Monbulk. Over the years, I worked a variety of jobs, including owning a pet shop, working as a kitchen hand at the Cuckoo, laboring in a schnitzel factory, and later, running a milk bar with my sister Janet.

- 29th RYDA Program – 5 members supported – thank you!!90 kids participated – because they had a death in Philip Road locally – kids are safer
- Gloria PS Speech Competition – first team meeting today – will hear more
- Deb Ball underway with rehersals – thanks to everyone involved.32 couples – the date is 14th June.
- EarlyAct is back – second meeting this term is tomorrow
- Breakfast Club continues to go on as ever!

- Budget $50k for year – we carried over $36k made up difference with fundraisingand are $3k ahead with Deb Ball and Sip and Paint to come as well so we are tracking well.
- Expected fees will go up as RI and District fees will go up

PP PHF Gayle Barrot – Vocational Committee
McCleod Murphy Scholarship – requesting nominations from medical and associated fields. Fund set up many years ago – given money in memory of Dr McCleod Murphy so young people can benefit. Bequests and asked people in the field to contribute to the fund eg Emerald Village Pharmacy, Emerald Psychology and the vet. $17k in the fund recipients usually get $1k approximately.

Shine Gala Dinner - Monash Children's Hospital
Kelly, Shalini, Sangeeta, Sue, Catherine, Kris and Ian attended the Shine Gala Dinner on Friday 16 May and saw the event raise over $500k for the hospital. We rocked to Kate Ceberano and it was great to dress up in our finery.
We bumped into Patrick Tessier and DG Colin and his wife Leanne.
