Guest Speaker - Jarrad Martin DC, FMACP

Unlocking Optimal Health with Functional Medicine and Gut Testing

Jarrad Martin, DC, FMACP is a U.S. trained Chiropractor with over a decade of experience helping individuals overcome chronic health struggles by addressing the root causes of their symptoms. Over 10 years of practice, Jarrad expanded his expertise by becoming a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, specializing in gut health—the foundation of overall well-being. He works with individuals suffering from symptoms like bloating, gas, irregular digestion, constipation, or diarrhea, as well as the ripple effects of poor gut health, including low energy, brain fog, poor sleep, and even mood swings.

Jarrad’s passion is helping his clients uncover hidden imbalances, optimize their health through functional lab testing, and regain control of their vitality and quality of life. He empowers individuals to feel their best through personalized strategies that address health from the inside out.

He is currently studying for the Australian Chiropractic equivalency exam while he is working at the Natural Healing Center in Ferny Creek.

  • From Texas – now here in Melbourne now as married an Australian wife Gloria and daughter 4 months old Joanna!!
  • Jarrad is not a medical doctor
  • Functional medicine – identifies underlying root causes by checking processes causing disease
  • Customised approach – when did it start, what is happening, your habits etc
  • Signature system looks at the following:
    1. Movement
    2. Nutrition
    3. Advanced DX testing – lab testing
    4. Limit Toxins
    5. Focus for life
  • All disease begins in the gut - Hippocrates
  • What we eat causes disease – eg leaky gut allowing toxins to go into the blood system – think about the gut as the ‘border patrol’.Nothing gets into body unless gut allows it to.If you have holes in the lining things will get in that shouldn’t get in.
  • Processed food and trying to follow the food pyramid is also an issue
  • The Gut-Brain connection – healthy gut supports a healthy mind – if not can lead to brain fog.Serotonin – happy sleep hormone – 90% made in the gut.If gut messed up, then this can affect sleep.
  • Candida imbalance can cause skin issues
  • Complete Microbiome Mapping – tests the DNA of what is in the digestive system
  • Guys don’t forget you can get tested too!!!
  • Optimal range of Functional Medicine is smaller than the blood tests done at by the medical fraternity
  • Saliva test for not sleeping – cortisol levels are high
  • Antibiotics – take probiotics post to restore balance

Citizenship Awards

Our club is very involved within our community with many of our local projects are aimed at the youth. The recognition of exceptional students is always a highlight for us. Over the last two weeks, President Kelly and members of the Youth Service Committee have been delighted to bestow Citizenship Awards to two deserving Grade 6 students from five of our local Primary Schools.  Kelly, Kerith, Lyn, Ian Wakefield, Ali and I each presented Certificates and  $30 Village Cinema vouchers to the chosen children at their Graduation Ceremonies.

Whether it is for their academic achievements, leadership skills or school community engagement the Citizenship Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate their outstanding efforts and actions.
