Hi everyone

 

I think that I am talking for all 37 of us who went to the Curry evening at Babaji’s Kitchen “Street food” in Belgrave on Tuesday that it was a huge success. It was like witnessing the biggest morning tea/lunch or the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee picnic as our table stretched from one end of the restaurant to the other.  Everyone mixed well, enjoyed each other’s company and there were a few who even took home doggy bags.  A big thank you to Belinda (Billie) Crombie who looked after us.  Belinda has long associations with the Club and was sponsored by the Club to attend a Rotary Youth Exchange Student (12 months) in South Africa. She was a member of our club for a time before the restaurant took over and using their mobile unit she and her partner provided meals for storm effected people in Olinda and during lockdown.

 

In the week Tina advised us that Gembrook Primary School had sent a thank you to the Club for funds given to the school and provided photographs.  These are provided later in Sparkle.

 

The final Board meeting was held last Monday. Thank you to Emma for stepping in at the last minute and setting up a zoom at her school as Marcus had car “issues”.  The meeting was done and dusted before Marcus arrived. Sangeeta hung on via zoom for so long that we forgot she was there! The year sees us moving from little in the way of funds to a healthy start to 2022-2023 Rotary year. Well done team.

We did think that we had the venue for Changeover sorted and Marcus has even worked on the agenda, however we may have a little issue so hang in there for further information about the evening.  I reckon it is ploy for me to stay in the role a few more weeks.

 

As I write we still have 4 more events to complete.  This Saturday we have the market and the Deb Ball.  Staffing at the market is a challenge for the day, as may be the weather so fingers crossed. Lyn and Lorna have the Deb Ball in hand, be it that people still want to book into attending or change their dietary requirements. 

 

The 3^rd event is the sausage sizzle on 18^th June and it was a lovely surprise to find that members volunteered so quickly to work – thank you as it makes Kris’s job a lot easier.  The 4^th and last event is the “Elvis” evening at The Cameo on 28^th June.

 

Not listed as Club event is the District Changeover on Saturday 25^th June.  If you haven’t already booked you only have until Monday 13^th June to secure your ticket https://www.trybooking.com/BZFMM     

    

This is one event you have to attend to support our own Ken Miller become District Governor (we love you Ken).
