Dear friends,

When I started as President, one of my aims was to introduce more immediate and 'hands on' projects to our club. Last week, we saw that projects don't have to be complex, nor take a lot of time, but can still provide significant outcomes. These projects will not replace our legacy projects, but will enhance our already strong community bonds, and hopefully spark interest in potential new members to join us.

To recap on our achievement with FORaMEAL, we packed over 13,800 meals in three hours, that I've since been told will be distributed to the Victorian Food Bank, and sent overseas to Somaliland. I said this in my recent Rotary Roundup post, but to me, the essence of service is to help others when you don't know when or where the assistance will be needed. This is truly 'service above self.'

I've since heard from the Emerald Secondary College, that the three Interactors had a fabulous time, and couldn't stop talking about their experience. So much so, that ESC also posted about their experience on Facebook. Interactors are the future of Rotary and their enthusiasm and commitment to service is to be applauded.

On Friday, members, and sponsors, attended the Angliss Hospital to view eight completed murals funded by the Rotary Kids Fun Run. This was again a very important day for us as it recognised and celebrated the success of this event.

This week, I'm excited to say that we'll be hearing from Sue Gregory and I've been told, she'll recall stories of her favourite Foundation and how she and her husband, Alfred, came to know the Himalayas so well. For our newer members, this should be a great night so please ask many questions. To provide some insight, please refer to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Gregory
