Toast to the Elderly - Dorothy Amor
I was born in Richmond, which naturally led me to become a Richmond supporter. My father had a previous marriage before he wed my mother, resulting in five stepbrothers and stepsisters. When he married my mother, his children from the previous marriage were already older. Together with my mother, he had six more children—three boys and three girls. Currently, I have one surviving sister.
I attended Brighton Street Primary school and later Richmond Girls school until the tenth grade. Following my education, I took up a receptionist position at an office job in a wire factory.
At the age of 18, I met my future husband Raymond at the Riverside Inn in Richmond. He was 22 at the time. We tied the knot and settled into a flat in Murumbeena. Eventually, we moved to Ferntree Gully in 1972. Despite our wishes, we were unable to have biological children. As a result, we chose to adopt two children named Karen and Mark. Our marriage lasted for an impressive 50 years.
Unfortunately, my husband Raymond tragically passed away from a heart attack. Throughout our lives, our aspiration had been to retire near the beach. However, circumstances required me to carry out this plan alone. Consequently, I moved into a retirement village villa in Rosebud. Due to a series of falls, I temporarily transitioned to an aged care facility while awaiting an opening at Emerald Glades. This move was essential for me to be closer to my son, who resides in that area.
If I could go back to any age, it would be back in my 40’s when I actively played ten pin bowling in a bowling club with my husband, I even played a little bit of basketball. Now days I just like to stay in my room and watch The Block.

- Born and raised in India
- Then lived in Nairobi – Swahili was first language
- Father was an engineer then moved to Australia
- Lived in Hampton Park
- Loved videos – this has been lifelong passion
- Wanted own business – his first business was in clothing
- Working retail – met wife Adele – been a great supporter in all Sid’s adventures
- Bought house in Pakenham and has now recently moved to Berwick
- His interests are golf, his mates, footy and basketball – won 2 championships
- Unfortunately he is a Carlton supporter (but we wont judge him on that)!
- He had always wanted to make a TV show so made a show for Channel 31 called Kickers – 5 episodes
- Married to Adele –
- His mother sadly passed away in 2020 from Breast Cancer
- Zen arrived this year!!
- Sid's new venture – Tucan a way to carry drinks that has led to a journey through venture capitalist and patents and he is about to manufacture! This has been a massive learning curve.
- His current business is Hsemu House Video – producers and videographers – videos for business and some of the biggest names in Australia

- Started 22 yrs ago this is our 20th event raised $721k in those years
- 12 sleeps to go
- Nov 26 – everyone signed up for a role – needs 120 people
- $40k in the bank - $4k expenses and 2 weeks to go – looking good to reach the target of $50k
- 299 entrants at the moment – extra come on the day if the weather is good
- 22 stalls in the market
- Puffing Billy arrangements going well
- Next Thursday kids from Monash travelling on Puffing Billy – Media will be there – Channel 9
- Expecting 500 kids on the day and need a lot of volunteers

- 10am Weds 23rd showbags items to Gembrook from Kelly’s house in Emerald
- No meeting next week - Thursday 24th Showbag packing at the station from 6 pm onwards 22 – 600 bags to fill!Kelly has done a great job organising the bag contents - Dinner will be pizza’s at the Station
- Saturday morning 10am
- Security 6pm – Midnight on Saturday – let John Shaw know
- Sunday – arrive 7am arrival for volunteers – packing up around 1pm – will get home around 4pm

- Thank you to Peter to have lady from Synchrotron from – 30 Jan at 5pm – car pooling – one hour tour and Stanford Hotel for dinner afterwards
- Conference costumes – Masquerade Ball – thinking left of centre – big secret for outside readers if you want to know speak to Gayle!!!Last one for the District – we are going to have a ball – should be fabulous

- 25 stalls on the day (we have 45 stall holders on the books)

- School fete same day – market on the school grounds – more foot traffic
- Stall holders enjoy the atmosphere and comradery between them all
