Although down on numbers on Tuesday and heralded in by what was probably the worst rendition of the National Anthem that we ever have done (a variety of different keys, not all of them major), last week’s meeting was nonetheless a good one with our latest member, Ros Weadman, being inducted into the Club.  Ros’ response speech was probably the best I have ever heard from a new member and bodes very well for the communications and marketing expertise that she brings to the Club.

And in spite of my forgetting to bring my laptop or HDMI converter for Caroline Nichols’ talk, we did manage to sneak this in in time and she certainly did it justice.  Traditional Chinese Medicine is an area of interest for many people at the Club and Caroline provided a good overview of what it includes and how it is administered.

Our resident AG, Graeme Aspinall, was particularly interested in the area too and so made a special trip to visit us again.  Graeme reminded me after the meeting that he will not be our AG for the next Rotary year so I would like to take this opportunity to thank Graeme for his active support of the Club and friendship over the past year and provide him with an open invitation to visit us at any time.

Yours in Rotary,
President Ian Ash

We look forward to hearing about it all from Peter on his return.

Caroline Nichols - Natural Health and Wellbeing

Caroline provided insights into her work with utilising Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at Ranges Integrative Health, website information here.

Caroline gave a great insight into the benefits of Chinese medical practices that include:

  • Acupuncture
  • Cupping
  • Herbal therapy
  • Dietary therapy
  • Exercise
  • Lifestyle management
  • Tuina massage
She explained how in the 1950's the practice was formalised but that we dont fully understand how the meridians work.

It was a very interesting presentation and one that provided ideas about complimentary medicine.
