Club Changeover

What a roaring 20's success our Changeover evening was!!

A wonderful night was had by all at the 2023-24 Rotary Club of Emerald and District Changeover.  There was fun and laughter, ceremonial duties and wonderful catering provided by Mauro and his team at 'The Independent' at Gembrook.

We celebrated a wonderful year under the leadership of PHF (and now Immediate Past President) Marcus Adams.  We achieved a lot, had some heartache along the way with the loss of Chris Adams and Louise Borg, wife of club member Don Borg and rallied to help sick members through their journeys.  We also had a lot of fun and laughter along the way - it was a great year and we all loved supporting our very own DG, Ken Miller.

The Year Ahead

President Sangeeta outlined her program for the year at the club meeting on 20th June - please find her thoughts below.   We are looking forward to yet another year of meaningful activity and fun in the Rotary Club of Emerald & District.

 

1. Membership Growth and Engagement: I aim to expand our membership base by reaching out to diverse communities, encouraging participation from young professionals, and leveraging technology for virtual engagement. We will focus on enhancing the Rotary experience, promoting fellowship, and providing meaningful opportunities for personal and professional development.
2. Youth Empowerment: Recognizing the significance of youth in shaping the future, I will emphasize engaging young people through Rotary's various programs, such as Interact, Rotaract, and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). We will provide platforms for youth leadership development, mentorship, and community service, nurturing a new generation of Rotarians committed to positive change.
3. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: I believe in fostering a Rotary that is inclusive, equitable, and celebrates diversity. We will work towards ensuring that Rotary reflects the rich tapestry of our global society and promotes equal opportunities for all members, regardless of their background, gender, ethnicity, or nationality.
4. Public Image and Communication: To enhance Rotary's visibility and engage wider audiences, we will leverage digital platforms, social media, and traditional media to share inspiring stories, showcase our projects, and highlight the transformative work of Rotary. We will also focus on effective storytelling and branding strategies to enhance public perception.
5. Our club will action meaningful contribution to Rotary Foundation and Polio Plus.

• Let’s spice up our meetings with gatherings and social events. We’ll have blast while strengthening our bonds.
• Innovate for good, we will host workshops with new members under 2years and their sponsors can learn in a fun way about our rotary club and rotary in general.
• Will continue hosting dinner at members house, great way to know your Rotarian – fantastic idea started by past president Marcus.

 

The club had two tables at District Changeover where we bid our very own Ken Miller a fond fairwell as DG.  What a wonderful year it has been under his leadership - with a lot of fun and activity throughout the district.  Of course, we didn't let him go lightly and the video of club members in their 'We Love You Ken' T-shirts to the Beatles song "All My Loving' was played at the event.

 

We wish DG Ian Ballantine a very successful year as the last DG of District 981o and as me move towards the combined district 9815.

 

 

 

Well done to the 'Silver Fox' team (Kerry, Catherine, John, Tom and Tracy in winning the Trivia Night last week ... and commiserations to the runners up - Team Triple (Gayle Lyn, Colin and Shalini).
