Marcus, thanks for the kind words in the Sparkle mentioning the 40^th Anniversary of my joining the Rotary Club of Emerald – back then it was not the Rotary Club of Emerald & District.

 

You mentioned a few of the projects in which I have been involved, but I have to say that the old cliché that “ You get back what you put in” could not be more true about my membership in the club.

 

Being a member of the club and RI has opened doors for me that would not have opened otherwise.        It has allowed me to meet a great bunch of like-minded people who are willing to give a little time and effort to make a difference.

 

And it has given me the opportunity to grow and to feel that I am a part of the Emerald community.

I am sorry that I was not at the meeting when my Anniversary was mentioned, but as everyone knows I am taking some time off to give Heather my undivided attention while she deals with her illness.

Chemo and Immunotherapy treatments are going well, with thankfully few side-affects.

 

I would like to express a big thank you to Susi for taking over the role of Chairing the Vocational Service Committee, and to Ian Ash for stepping up to chair the Pride of Workmanship Awards function.

Looking forward to joining everyone at a meeting a little further down the track.
