Fundraising Committee are starting to plan another Cocktails on the Catwalk - keep 25 May free in your diaries - calling all models and helpers on the day!!
Satellite Club interest meeting is provisionally planned now for Thursday 11 April after FunFest in case we get interest at the weekend.
Pride of Workmanship - an amazing 120 guests are expected next week so it is a case of all hands on deck to make attendees welcome. This is a wonderful event that recognises great work in our community and is an opportunity to showcase Rotary. Shangeeta and her committee have worked extremely hard bringing the event together - well done!
Brett Owen and Letitia Wilmott will be the guests of honour as we give out 15 awards on the evening.
FunFest arrangements - to be confirmed ASAP - please keep 7 April free, if we have the sausage sizzle, donut van and a stand to provide information on Rotary, then we will need a pretty full Roster between 8.30 and 3.3o that day.
Road Safety Program - Susi is looking for volunteers to assist on Tuesday 14 May between 8.30 and 2.30 - help is needed looking after groups of children (lunch and morning tea are provided). Please reach out to Susi if you can assist as this is a work day for some of the club members.
T-shirts and caps - Vicki will send around an email with size and cost details so she can place an order for everyone - payment in advance please!

Behind the badge - gloria hargreaves
We finally got her after 13 years with the club!!! How did Gloria manage to avoid a behind the badge presentation??! I was appropriate timing as Gloria emigrated to Australia on Labour Day 1958.
It was certainly worth waiting for - hearing about Gloria's arrival in Australia and the risk her parents took to come here with Gloria and her brother and how, after spending time in one of the hot in summer cold in winter camp huts, they finally made a good life in Warnambool.
This was where Gloria went to school and was chosen via an interview process to go to Geelong Teacher's College. Her recollection of graduation singing the Halleluiah Chorus was amusing to hear.
Gloria spent 3 years teaching at Geelong and was introduced to Ev by her ex-landlady and the rest is history - Gloria and Ev will celebrate 50 years of marriage this year :)
When Chris and Katie were born Gloria had moved up to Melbourne and decided in 1977 to go back to work as a casual relief teacher which worked out well around a young family. Finally, when at Templeton School she moved into a full time role teaching a further 14 years at schools including Heathmont and BIllinook.
In 2002 Gloria retired and took on grandma duties to Georgia for a couple of days a week. She joined Rotary in 2006 and boy has she trail blazed since then taking on club, district regional and national roles - we ran out of time but perhaps Gloria's Rotary journey will fit into another talk - let's hope it doesn't take another 13 yrs to twist her arm as she could be Rotary Head office in the US by then!!
