G’day Rotarians and other Interested Peeps,

Another week of isolation passes, but certainly not uneventfully!  ANZAC Day on Saturday, was a day of reflection as usual, but without the gathering of people.  The Last Post by candlelight at dawn was a lovely way to start the day…I wonder how many of us took part in that?  ;)   Without the formal march and services, there was still an opportunity to place flowers at the cenotaph in ANZAC Place (near the RSL in Emerald) which I did on behalf of our Club.  There were several floral tributes which was lovely to see.  Lest we forget.

With that week done, another one begins!!  This coming week will hopefully see the the first interest meeting for the Interact Club of St Margaret’s School in Berwick.  Our Club is partnering with the Berwick Rotary Club in this venture, however it will be a great opportunity to connect with other Rotarians to share ideas, strategies and friendship.  Despite being in a different Rotary District (9820), geographically they are closer to us than many others.   We held a joint meeting via Zoom with the school principal & Shia, which was well received and enthusiastic.  Watch this space!

My thanks to Ian Ash for maintaining the programming for this year.  He’s been doing a terrific job of organising speakers for our future meetings, not such an easy task, especially now that our meetings are online.
This week’s program includes our very own Gloria Hargreaves who will speak about RAM….Rotarians Against Malaria.  This is a global program so it will be very interesting to hear what has been happening in recent times and the impact Rotary is having on our world.

Thank you in advance, Gloria!!

I hope you’ve had a good week, enjoyed some sunshine and reflection.  Stay well and see you on Tuesday night!!

Hooroo for now,

C xxx

Thank you President Catherine for laying flowers in memory of the fallen on Saturday.  We all missed going to the service in Emerald but it was wonderful to feel we had been represented on the day and a tribute laid.
