Guest Speaker - Betty Chetcuti - "The Vegan Cookbook
- Speaker Betty commenced compiling book in 2019, finished 2021 & self-published after COVID. Sales are via markets and personal contact. Inspiration was a 90 lady called Dulci, who experienced heart issues in her 60’s, had 8 sessions of surgery and was told that there was nothing else that could be done for her. She trialled an alternative Vegan diet and found that this worked for her and has never looked back. Betty watched the documentary “What the Health” and decided to research more and has found that a Vegan diet can allow many people to come off their prescribed medication.

Youth - RYDA - PP PHF Shalini Penny
Shalini reported that she, Vicki, Lyn and Gloria attended Emerald Secondary College in the morning to assist the trainers and teachers for the 6 training sessions of which 105 Year 11 students participated. 1 session was outside and provided information on stopping speeds & how easy it was to injure someone.
The students heard a story from a biking casualty injured over 20 years ago in a head on incident on farm land. His injuries were so severe that they caused brain damage and all of his left-hand side of his body to be paralysed. Sessions very informative and worthwhile.
EarlyAct
Kerith Cummins advised that students who have joined are to be presented with certificates at the Assembly Emerald Primary School on Friday 3rdMay. Rotarian attended are to meet at the school at 9am for a 9.15 Assembly.

Vocational Service The Humble Mission – PP PHF Gayle Barrot
Gayle reported that on Saturday 20th April, 17 members and families volunteered in Melbourne from 1.30pm – 3pm to help feed those in need – believed to be around 150 people. It was a privilege to work with the team at the Humble Mission, they do an incredible job of bringing food, friendship and dignity to people who are doing it tough. It was an experience that has left an indelible impression on us all.

Anzac Day Remembrance
Members of the Rotary Club of Emerald and District were honoured to be part of the Anzac Day Remembrance in Emerald.
It is hard to believe out of 100 local lads who went to WW1 only 66 returned. What an impact that must have been on such a small community at the time - no family would have been left untouched either by losing a loved one or a friend.
the service remembered the Peacekeepers in particular this year as well as veterans who served in recent conflicts.
