We welcomed guests Jeanette Adams, Don Borg and Jenny Wakefield.
This month we toasted Zandra Kennedy. Her parents were of Scottish background and lived in NSW. Zandra was born in Newcastle in 1938. She recalls moving a lot during her childhood which disrupted her education and long term friendships. The family spent the longest time in Springvale and she remembers ducks, chickens and Dorothy the cow. She trained to be a nurse in Williamstown, she married Graham at the age of 22 and they had 3 lovely daughters. Zandra loves reading especially westerns and romances, she likes crosswords and knitting as well as entering competitions. She now enjoys a quite life at the Glades and enjoys her family visiting.
Thank you to PP PHF Ian Wakefield, PP PHF Ken Miller and PP PHF Chris Adams for all the work involved in giving Don the surprise farewell roast. It was lovely to see Don's daughters and grandson attend the meeting and we are sorry Louise was unable to make the date.

Don Joined Rotary -- October 1990. Inducted by President Brian Leak.
Don was Club President - 2007 – 08 year.
By his statement it was a great year….. he did nothing .. he delegated. A notable achievement in his year as President was sizable donation to a cause that he knows a lot about :-Portsea Children’s Camp to upgrade the Sewer System.
All American
All American Car Display and Swap Meet … Don was part of the team that initiated the event in 1993. In conjunction with The Thunderbirds Rod and Custom Club of which Don is a member, raised $2,456 in its first year. After the Black Saturday Bush Fire 2009 … Under the direction of Don the All American Car Display and Swap meet raised some $11,000 that was donated to the fire relief effort.
Dressing up
Over the years , At every chance, Don got into the spirit of the occasion by dressing up, down or other. In an another life I am sure that Don would be a Drag Queen.
Don has Chaired all Committees though his years in Rotary
Don has been our Sargent At Arms numerous times.
He has run Chock Lotto -- and shaken the hands of many , many hundreds of guests.
Don and Louise participated in our Last Chance Deb Ball – Oct 1996 again a chance to dress up.
Compassionate Person
Don is a very compassionate person who is willing to help at all times.When a Past Rotarian Alfred ( Greg ) Gregory needed a lift to get to Rotary events and meetings , Don stepped up.
Picking Greg up buying him a drink and taking home after.
After his 50th birthday , Don being a very caring sole, escorted his good friend and neighbour ( Bob Colbert ) home , One door up the road. Both had one to many. I am told that Bob made it home. Don was found in the gutter outside Bobs home some hours later sound asleep ---His duty done.
Horses Ass Award
Don was nominated just about every year for the Horses Ass Award 1993, 1994 and 2008 basically for being the biggest dill in the club.According to those in know he was also piped at the post many more times.
District Conferences
Don has been a major contributor to the clubs costume for the District Conferences.

Don was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow in 1998
We also heard about Don's exploits boarding, shooting and his exploits carrying Rocks @ Milford Sound.
Dons Motto is ----- He who has had the most toys .. wins
I think that he is in the process of instilling this moto into his grand children.
We will miss you, Don, but as an Honorary Member, you are welcome any time - we would love to see that smile of yours from time to time :)
Suzi was certainly exercising 'Service Above Self' attending the Cocktails on the Catwalk Committee Meeting on Thursday 2 May. We did, however, mark the occasion with a small celebration. Happy Birthday again, Suzi.
